Questions & Answers

What tools do you use?
Birkman First Look (Self-assessment), Values & Drivers Activity Skills & Interests Assessment,  Activity Strength-based Coaching Methodology, Hogan Assessment, Lead 360 Assessment
What are you working on right now?
A new initiative by Right Management called. "Career Directions". The program is designed to provide candidates with an array of online exerices, resources, and tools (including the option to utilize the expertise of a career consultant) which will enable them to own and proactively manage their careers. The program's primary goals are to enhance satisfiaction with a candidate's current role, support effforts to seek new opportunities within their organization, or prepare them for an internal promotion.
Who are your main influences?
Robert Fulghem – author “All I Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten” – Put things in perspective. My JV Basketball Coach – Showed me how to respect each person’s strengths, while placing effort above talent. My dad – Taught me through example to work hard, do my best, and not complain. My students and players – Remind me that everybody feels. My wife & kids – Give me purpose when I feel purposeless.
Why did you choose your profession?
I didn't. It chose me. After clarifying my values (what I was looking for in a career that was most important to me - like life/work balance and the opportunity to help others see their potential.) and identifying my greatest strenths, I researched companies and job openings that seemed like a good fit. Then, I actually took an entry level position (found through a networking contact) and established my worth. With clear focus on what direction I wanted to go in and a little self-created luck, I am now doing what I feel I was always destined to do.
